did we have more free time in college?

Filed under: General — jua @ 11:41 pm

Morecooler is not as active as back then. Just wanted to say I love my new job. Truly hectic but sure makes the week fly by. I don’t take any breaks and haven’t had a real lunch half-hour in weeks, AND have been showing up early and leaving late, and I love it. Plus, the boss let me keep my Hawaii vacation even though I am still in probation. I actually need to find a temp to replace me the one week I’m gone. So, if anyone knows a reliable, yet out-of-work friend who can do a decent job (but not better than I can), give me a buzz. I am planning on touching base with my prior temp agency in the role of hirer and probably not using them because they were lousy to me when I was the hiree. Bitter much? They did dump me in that horrible pit of my last job and left me to rot… Thank you Chris for convincing me I could do better.

Server Admin?

Filed under: General — martin @ 1:24 am

Hey, quick question, and I apologize if I’ve already been told and I just didn’t write it down: I need to tweak some of the settings for my accounts; specifically, I need to add a mailbox.  Since we’re on a new server, I assume our hostsltd accounts won’t work; where, then, do I go to tweak this sort of thing?

Maui - Lets Book ‘em

Filed under: General — matt @ 5:37 am

I’m still trying to get ahold of Sean, but in the meantime, lets start booking flights. Again, shoot for days inside Aug 31 - Sep 9 (preferably arriving on the 31st– less running around to the airport :) Also, the airport code is OGG and some flights might hope thru Honolulu (HNL). Go ahead and drop me an email with the flight info so I can keep track of where everyone is going to be. Thanks!

MAUI UPDATE

Filed under: General — matt @ 7:33 pm

Seems we have a problem here, I’m dropping everyone an email, but thought I’d post here too. The condo has already been booked for Aug 25-31. At this point, please don’t get any tickets until I sort this out (fairly quickly). If you already have tickets, please drop me a note of what you have. Thanks and sorry about this…

Maui

Filed under: General — matt @ 5:41 pm

Ok, sounds like you’re all liking the Aug 25 - Sep 9 dates. Sounds like Chris might have something lined up starting the 25th. I’ll probably be there most of the time. Also looks like ATA doesn’t have their nifty-neat deals, so finding a flight will be an excersize for the flyer :) . Tip of the day is bookingbuddy.com as it searches the flight search engines easily. So, ideally if/when you all figure out if you’re coming out and when (dates and go ahead and email me flight info). Looks like Oakland is probably cheaper overall for you San Franciscans. And mucking with the dates a bit helps. Coming a little early might be ok, but let me know before booking it (Family’s out there the week before and I’ll probably be over a little before the 25th too.)
One nifty flight I found: $372 OAK -> OGG, nonstop rountrip 8/29-9/5 on aloha airlines website.

Comicon

Filed under: General — martin @ 12:39 pm

If anyone is up for Comicon, you’re welcome to crash at my apartment.  My brother will be visiting me, but I’ve got a couch and an aerobed and, failing that, a comfy carpeted floor.  ^_^

Dates are Thursday, July 20th - Sunday, July 23rd.  Info at http://www.comic-con.org/ .

Maui

Filed under: General — matt @ 5:12 pm

Alright, regargding getting out to Maui at some point in the future.. At the moment I have three sets of dates available in fall that the condo is open: Aug 25 - Sep 9, Sep 18 - 29, and Oct 15 - Nov 2.

So we need to nail down a date and then figure out who all is going. We’ve got a Jeep over there that can seat 4 or 5, so a rental car might be wise with any more.

For getting out there, if anyone doesn’t care about the exact return date, ATA (flies from SFO and LAX) has a $175 one-way standby ticket (add $75 for first.) The airport code for Kahului, Maui is OGG.

Another thing I didn’t think about earlier.. the condo sleeps 8 (3 queen+ beds and a set of bunk beds).

Stephen Colbert’s speech

I don’t know how I missed this, but in case anyone else did, here’s a video of the speech from the White House Correspondents Dinner. The satire is extremely harsh (and deserved). Plus the fact that Bush had to sit there the entire time makes it even better.
